We instituted MaxGauge’s earlier version in 2004 and have used it since, and today, it has become a standard tool throughout all of our operation departments.
As a finance institution through which our valued customers’ funds flow in and out, if any problems arise, it could lead to very critical issues. And hence, the role of a DBA is very important, and MaxGauge is a tool tailored to meet the needs of DBAs.
MaxGauge is great for viewing the overall flow. And in case something has exceeded the alarm threshold, the alarm sets off and a notification is sent immediately to the administrator. As a result, the system administrators are able to respond quickly to take immediate measures for the situation. MaxGauge makes a direct access to the SGA area and leaves a log of the corresponding portion, and therefore, there is no load on the system and it is also excellent in terms of stability.

Honestly, when we first started using MaxGauge, we thought ‘How different could it be from other tools?’ and ‘How much difference could it make on the performance quality?’ But now, we believe in the product so much that we have expanded its application throughout all the operation departments.

We have a system called the retirement pension for which we gather the customers’ account information on a daily basis and check for anything that is different from the normal (data with no performance issues) data. In case a slow performance is issued in a particular period, it has been difficult to compare and identify the data that is different from the old data with the Oracle’s internal product because it does not keep a log; however, with MaxGauge, because it stores the entire log collection in the DB (Repository DB), and so it becomes possible to identify the problem according to each period and fix the issues for that problem area. Furthermore, MaxGauge is also useful for the DBA’s post analysis.

In our system’s case, the performance has improved twelve-fold. Tasks which used to take 12 hours can now be completed in just an hour.
